He won the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, and I was the most unhappy wrestling fan on the planet. When I went to the bed that night I was angry about what I had just watched. Daniel Bryan did not win. It was the best story, David vs Goliath at WrestleMania 31. Instead I got Roman Reigns. When he beat Bryan is the number one contender match, I instantly started rooting for him because I did not want to see Lesnar as champion any longer. Instead, I got something better, Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank Contract to become champion. When Rollins got injured and was forced to vacate the title, I began pouring stock into Kevin Owens. After all, Owens has been my guy since he was the Ring of Honor World Champion. But when we were given Dean Ambrose vs Reigns, I just wanted two things, a good match and Sheamus not to leave as champion. Disappointed is the cleanest way to describe how I felt after Survivor Series. I figure he may not win the title at WWE TLC, but when he destroyed Triple H after being screwed, I saw something that I liked. A new aggressive Roman Reigns. And on the night of December 14, 2015 when Reigns pinned Sheamus’ shoulders to the mat for the 1-2-3, I instantly jumped out of my seat, the same way I did when Seth Rollins defeated him at WrestleMania

There’s nothing like a title change in professional wrestling. In sports you will see a crowning of a new champion, or a team repeating around the same time every year. However, in wrestling a title change can happened anytime of the year. And when you dislike someone as much as I dislike Sheamus, its nothing like it.

When Stephanie McMahon said that Vince McMahon would be on Monday Night Raw, you knew business would pick up. Vince told Roman that he had to win the match or he was fired. Of course you can’t help but think two things, Roman wins by DQ or he loses and gets reinstated by the Royal Rumble. When Reigns had Sheamus beat, McMahon found a way to distract the referee. But on this night Roman Reigns would not be denied and he made sure that on this night, he was NOT WWE’s bridesmaid.

What a year its been for the Shield. Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania (and carried the company), Dean Ambrose won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Raw. Everyone knew these guys are the future and its going be very interesting to see how they carry the company moving forward. But Seth Rollins would not let the night end without words for his former best friend…
